About Hope
Having a name that is also a word has always been interesting. When I was taking a class on the Old Testament, the professor/pastor suggested that I name my final paper “Notes of Hope.” That moniker has stuck for decades now as my blog’s title.
Being a native Detroiter, it surprised everyone I then knew when I moved to Indiana with my youngest son while two of my eldest were off to college in Minnesota. Indiana, it must be told, was never highly regarded by Michiganders. After interviewing in ten different states at fifteen congregations, Indiana won out over even Arkansas.
Having moved here in 1999, I have come to love and appreciate all things Indiana: pork tenderloins, the 500 race, Monument Circle with Lady Liberty, the World War Memorial and Shrine Room, a city with the second most monuments next to DC, quaint rural towns, Indiana Beach, the Canal Walk, Victory Field, and all the parades taking place behind my apartment. Being a city girl, I love the hustle and bustle of city life and am so grateful to live right here in downtown Indianapolis.
My eight grandchildren, four adult children, and their spouses are my joys. It is great being now retired and able to visit them often. They all live in states other than Indiana.
Labyrinths are a real passion of mine, as they bring peace and joy to all who become involved with them. I desire to walk at least one labyrinth in each of the states (along with collecting a Starbucks mug from each state). Other hobbies include card making and scrapbooking, traveling to new places, reading mostly fiction now that I do not need to read for work, preaching and leading worship as a supply pastor, and watching “NCIS” and “White Collar” on Netflix.
Life is good, and when it is not, there is always hope that tomorrow will be even better, even good.
