Bamboo Labyrinth
It is amazing where the light of God’s love shines through into our hearts and souls. On my recent vacation in Washington, DC, my friend Bob looked up the locations of labyrinths in various states. Labyrinths are my thing. So, on the way home I walked various labyrinths in various states I drove through on our way home.
After meandering around one woman’s vast back yard in Delaware, finding the large circle of striking cedar trees noted in the labyrinth description online and locating the entrance for the labyrinth amidst the trees, I was in awe of the path, the seclusion and the feeling of total security as I walked the path. Leaving the labyrinth, I came around the side of the house to find bamboo growing so stately and tall. I’ve never seen bamboo growing before. They all came together toward the top immersing me in this sanctuary with the sun light streaming through. Stopping to feel the moment, I remembered the loving times with my Uncle Jerry and cousins using bamboo cane fishing poles to catch Blue Gills and Sunfish at my grandmother’s cottage. That led to thoughts of family gatherings at that cottage, swimming in Lower Straits Lake, looking for golf balls near the golf course and so much more. Wonderful moments of remembering. The sun felt warm and holy as if God were shining down on me and assuring me that life is good.
Life is good. Cling to that fact. Cling to the fact that God’s light and love is shining down upon you through the warm days, rainy days and soon the snowy days to remind you in subtle ways that life is good. Look for those nuances in your days and nights. Cling to the touching words of this blessing from Numbers 6: 24 – 26: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.”
