Tip & Restaurant #10
Top 10 List
While I attended the Via de Cristo Women’s Weekend #74 October 8 - 11, 2015, I gave a talk on the top 10 tips to being/staying closer to Christ. In the intro to that talk I stated that I had recently read a top 10 list of restaurants in Indy and wondered who put that list together. I thought I would share with you here each day one of the top 10 tips to be/stay closer to Christ and one of my top 10 restaurants down (mainly on Mass. Ave.). None of the restaurants and none of the tips are in a top 10 order. #1 is just as important as #10.
Tip #10 For Being Closer To Christ: Evaluate
Take stock of your life IN Christ now and from time to time. Be honest with yourself. Where are you in life? Where are you IN grace?
When I was struggling after my divorce my therapist helped me to take stock of my life. Where I was. Even who I was. In that inventory of my life, he identified me as an ACOA – an Adult Child Of an Alcoholic. I never “knew” that – acknowledged that – and never really knew an “ACOA” was “something.” My therapist gave me a couple books to read and page and page I saw myself! My mom was an alcoholic, and I never realized it until she stopped drinking. I thought it was normal for moms to drink beer all day and go to the corner bar in the evening. I grew up in that “Cheers” type bar and was dearly loved by everyone there. It blew me away and I became more observant. She was. She struggled in life and found refuge at the corner bar moreso than the local church. She did the best she could for her family but life was hard. I had no idea how hard. Then she quit drinking when I was 17 and for the last 5 years of her life we were very close, and I learned so much from her. But it took about 20 more years for me to realize I was an ACOA and all that came along with that which I worked through. I needed to evaluate my life and take stock of where I was to improve.
The same is true for our life in grace. We need to evaluate it honestly. We need to ask ourselves:
Where do I need help in walking the walk of faith IN grace?
· In my personal devotional life?
· In losing myself in service to others?
· In my worship life?
· In my prayer time?
Think about it
Identify it.
Determine where to get help and encouragement.
It’s an ongoing process all our lives.
Restaurant #10
Loui’s Wine Dive

Although I generally shy away from chains (this is a limited chain though), I thoroughly enjoy the food, staff and atmosphere of this place. It’s less than a 5 minute walk from my apartment, too. Enjoyed the BLT deviled eggs, squeaky cheese, crab poutine, Sinatra burger and other seasonal items on the menu which does change. The drinks were very fun as well. I’ve gone 3 times which is unusual for me as I love trying new places. Would enjoy to hear your thoughts if you go or have gone in the past.
