Tip & Restaurant #4
The Ongoing 10 Tips for Staying Closer to Christ and 10 Favorite Indy Restaurants
Tip #4: Resources
Use resources. These can be people or materials. The more we immerse ourselves in the things of Christ, the easier it is to stay close to Christ.
When I wanted to learn to cook, I bought cookbooks, read cooking magazines, watched cooking shows and bought cooking supplies. I watched my mom and helped her cook, and she had watched my “Little Grandma” as she made a family favorite “Pierogi”. Through my mom and cooking with her, I learned that Little Grandma’s 2 egg shells of water was ¼ cup for me. Now I’ve passed this family tradition of pierogi making on to my daughter and put it into the family cookbooks I made for my children when they got married. Now my daughter makes “Pierogi” for me and they taste even better.
This same illustration holds true for living close to Christ. Surround yourself with things of grace Christ. Read books. Listen to others. Attend workshops. Listen to Christian music and radio stations. Look for and use resources. Find what works best for you. Is it reading devotional books such as “Portals of Prayer” or “Guideposts”? Is it an online blog? Is it a Bible study book? Is it simply sitting with the Bible? Do you find it better to pray in color? Have a prayer journal? Explore all the many ways. Use resources.
Restaurant #4: Old Point Tavern
This is not technically a restaurant but a tavern as the names says. It is the 2nd oldest tavern in Indy and is at 401 Mass. Ave. on the point. The food is good from the chicken and basil sandwich to the vegetarian nachos. There are no fried foods, and everything I’ve had is very fresh. The decor is interesting and fun. It can be loud inside (for me), but there is outside seating depending on the weather. Fun place to people watch as you enjoy great food and drinks. A local place of interest for sure! And, “Ann Dancing” is right there, too!
