Radish Leaves
Today in our women’s Bible study we looked at the miracle of Jesus healing the 10 lepers. Someone mentioned that often we overlook things right in front of us and don’t express our gratitude for the little things we rush by that truly are miracles. That took my thoughts to this morning when I looked on Facebook and saw the amazing picture below that my friend David Kelly shot last night. The night’s moisture collecting on radish leaves. Isn’t it amazing? That took my thoughts to yesterday afternoon when Pastor Miller and I were talking over Sunday’s sermon and the Revelation passages in chapter 5: 11 – 14 where everyone and everything that has breath is praising God around the throne. Even the creatures who never sinned are praising God. How do I, who have sinned and been redeemed, not praise God loudly all the time then?
Sometimes I don’t take the time to notice the things I should praise God for. Sometimes I am reticent to share praiseworthy things giving God all the honor and glory, although I may thank God myself quietly. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with work and negative things and there just doesn’t seem to be much to shout praises for.
Then something comes along like these radish leaves, and I hear the women at church talking about gratitude , and I read a text like Revelation 5 and snap back into action noticing the little things, as well as the big things, that show what a great and amazing God we have. Thanks be to God who does deserve all honor and blessing and praise.
And I’ve learned once again how important other people are in my faith journey. Thanks be to God for them!
