Taco Trucks
Pentecost Greetings:
Whenever I hear about something three times in a week, I really sit up and pay attention to some message that is being presented. This week it involves tacos.
While I was in Minnesota, Jason got me hooked on the Food Channel. I watched The Great Food Truck Race about taco trucks. I couldn’t believe it! The very next day I saw a taco truck driving on Keystone Road in Indianapolis! That day I picked up the newspaper, and the Indianapolis Star had an article on taco trucks.
When my kids’ dad worked in a factory and I didn’t have time to make his lunch, he’d eat from what he called “The Roach Coach”. Not too appealing, eh? I think these new taco trucks are similar in concept yet more posh. They go to some pretty nice areas in Broad Ripple and other places. Everything old is new again - and thankfully improved.
Anyway, I was thinking about these trucks. They are doing what God told us, as Christians, to do. Think about the Great Commission found in Matthew 28: 16 - 20:
“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”
These business people got it right. They take the tacos to the people who not only enjoy the product they bring but recommend them to others. What a great example for me.
How to take the Gospel to the people so they look forward to its coming and recommend it to others rather than sitting and waiting for them to come to me?
God is with us!
Hope
