Umbrellas and Bibles
Pentecost Greetings!
Last week as I was driving to the summer day camp at Our Redeemer, there was this car in front of me most of the way. The person was driving very slowly - below the speed limit. I was a little frustrated as I always arrive on time at the day camp but never too early. Since that day, I think about that car most every day.
In the back window was a large umbrella sitting on top of a Bible. I thought this was pretty meaningful. The umbrella helps them avoid the rain of water. Their Bible helps the avoid the reign of evil. The name of the car was the “Infiniti” which always makes me think of Buzz Lightyear fromToy Story, one of my favorite characters, who often says: “To infinity and beyond!" How appropriate! The Bible will help take the person to infinity and beyond.
This probably stuck with me because lately I have been working a lot of hours and not spending much time with my Bible. Time to get back on track and put first things first. I needed that car to slow me down that day, and every day, to remind me to open my Bible and journal once again and spend some time focusing on the most important thing in life, in infinity and beyond.
God is with us!
Hope
