A few more of today’s moments. Some more pictures of the global village. Did you know that life expectancy in Mozambique is 41? In that country they live life outside together mostly around the communal kitchen. Communal living is so appealing to me.

Another part of today was working in the garden. I have never seen such vibrant colors of Indian corn and didn’t know that it could be ground into corn meal. Actually I thought it was only good as a fall door decoration.

A sad moment came today when our meatless Monday dinner was vegetarian lasagna that looked delicious with an Alfredo sauce and one with a marinara sauce but they were loaded with broccoli. The mixed vegetables also were laced with that broccoli. One thing I cannot eat. :-(. The salad bar was tasty though, and I look forward to eggs for breakfast that the chickens that were pecking at my leg earlier today laid.

The World Book of Happiness has been a great read and will be beneficial in upcoming sermons and Christmas gifts. The kid’s book “Faith” was read to us tonight. I love being read to. It was a fun and inspiring story about the start of Heifer International and will also make nice Christmas gifts.

Today I’m grateful for, and enjoyed:

1. many laughs on the deck with my friend Dave as we caught up on life,
2. the cool weather,
3. the multitude of stars out tonight,
4. sanding metal shelves that gave me a renewed appreciation for my job and also for the physical work others do. I told Dave if I ever dare to complain about work, send me a piece of sandpaper.

However, it did feel good to work hard outside and not sit behind a desk. Reminded me of Lee Valley days. When I return to work I hope to be out and about doing my job more rather than being in my office.

Tomorrow brings morning devotions, breakfast, a walk to the worm farm, a driving tour of Antietam, lunch, a trip to a local farm /creamery and then the most exciting part - volunteering at DC Central Kitchen.

A quote from the book on happiness: “Those who feel good, do good.” May you feel especially good tomorrow, my dear friends.
