Shoes On or Off?

Ephesians 6:13 says:  “Put on the shoes of peace.”

When do you put on your shoes?  I know when I take mine off - every chance I get.  The moment I walk in the door, I take my shoes off, and only put them on when I leave my home.  I’ve noticed that when I do leave my house after putting on my shoes, I leave a trail of stuff behind me on the Red Wings doormat that sits outside my apartment door.  I track dust and cat fur that comes from those two darling cats who seem to never cease shedding.

So, as I read this verse from Ephesians about putting on the shoes of peace, I thought about putting on my shoes when I go out.  I thought about tracking stuff with me as I go outside.  The image came to me of Pigpen and the dust cloud that goes with him wherever he goes.  May the peace of God that I feel inside my home (see picture), go with me when I put on my shoes and go out.  May I leave a trail of God’s peace, along with that kitty fur, as I walk about the world each day.
